R100 rural deployment

Connecting rural premises across Scotland

The Scottish Government is enabling access to faster broadband to some of the most challenging locations in Scotland through the Reaching 100% (R100) programme.

Scotland has some of the most challenging terrain in which to deploy digital infrastructure in Europe. As the R100 programme continues to roll-out to properties across the country we take a look at some of the most rural homes and businesses that have been connected so far through the R100 contracts and R100 Scottish Broadband Voucher Scheme (SBVS):

  • Elphin, Highland
  • Galloway Activity Centre and Loch Ken Eco Bothies, Dumfries & Galloway
  • Thornhill, Dumfries & Galloway
  • Drimnin, Highland
  • Ardentallen, Argyll & Bute.

Elphin, Highland

As well as John and his partner now being able to access multiple devices at the same time thanks to their R100 SBVS superfast broadband connection, they have also benefitted from reduced commuting by being able to work from home.
