R100 - Access for all
The Reaching 100% programme is the Scottish Government’s commitment to providing superfast broadband access - speeds of at least 30 Megabits per second (Mbps) - to every home and business in Scotland.
The 100% 2021 policy commitment was met through the three strands of R100 activity – the R100 contracts, the R100 Scottish Broadband Voucher Scheme (SBVS) and ongoing commercial coverage. Contracts were awarded in three geographical areas – North, Central and South.
All of the planned R100 build in the South and North contract areas, and the vast majority in Central, will be gigabit capable – this is more than 30 times faster than the original commitment to deliver 30Mbps. As much of the technology delivered will go beyond the original superfast commitment, the engineering works will take time and will be phased in over the coming years.
The R100 SBVS can provide help in the form of a subsidy worth up to £5,000 if your home or business broadband speed is less than 30Mbps and your property is not in plan to receive a superfast connection.
